Many thanks to Kath who took all the trouble to write, compile n edit the chapters in our sec4 class journal(which somehow diden get published).
she sent us some chapters via email which made me reminiscence about some of the crazy times we shared back in 4Freakz.
Here's one of the most exciting entries:
Kent Ridge Secondary School
I suppose we were asking for it. Ritchell, Bridget, Eileen, Alice, Devlin, Aaron, Ee Chong and I were going to the Jurong Entertainment Centre everyday after school to have our meals together and basically waste time.
We went there after school on an almost daily basis to sample the various delicacies from Long John Silver’s, Delifrance and Macdonald’s.
But the greatest leisure event of every trip to JEC would be to go up to the skating rink and to play Photohunt at the machine booth there.
Today was different. After our meal, we went up to the skating rink. We found the Photohunt machine occupied by a group of students from Kent Ridge Secondary School. Ah well, so we set on the benches provided and waited for them to leave, watching the skaters in the rink in the meantime.
Things started becoming weird, however. Bridget caught one of the girls giving us the fish-eye, for want of a better way to describe what is commonly known as ‘diao’.
Then they started hogging the machine. After an hour’s wait, they were still there. We started getting more ‘fish-eye’s, and for no good reason. "That girl must be having constipation," Devlin remarked.
One of the girls walked past, giving us an entire galore of ‘fish-eyes’. "!" I was momentarily tempted to put her head in way of an incoming pair of ice skates.
"Wait. What did we do to them?" I asked, feeling outraged.
"They just , there’s nothing we can do, honey" Bridget replied.
Ritchell remarked dryly, "I think we have more reason for that. She looks like a pug."
Aaron went with Devlin to see what the group was up to. They came back to us with Devlin sniggering, "The girl said, ‘Ji Bai,’ when Aaron walked past." Alice started laughing, albeit apologetically.
"They’re going to change more money into 1-dollar coins so we’ll have to wait even longer! Wahl au!" Aaron exclaimed, trying hard to ignore Alice.
We continued the wait. Ritchell and Bridget decided to go over to check things out.
They decided to fabricate a conversation about French lessons and violin classes so as to give themselves a legitimately nonchalant reason to walk past them. Haha you see our superiority complex coming in.
They came back. "The girl said, ‘Lan jiao’ this time. Someone teach her how to use vulgarities, please. She’s simply throwing out whatever foul language she can think of!" RItchell said, clearly quite miffed.
"It’s ridiculous, they’re wasting their money just to spite us! What’s the point" Eileen shook her head in disbelief, frowning.
Devlin replied with his usual derision. "What did you expect, they’re from a neighbourhood school!" And we all snickered. Ritchell left for home soon.
"Let them spend all their money if they want, it’s not ours anyway," Bridget shrugged over the shoulder of Alice and Eileen, who were looking through their Bio TYS.
After another hour, we just decided to go home too. However the lift was conveniently situated beside the photohunt machine, where the Kent Ridge maladroits were huddling around. (Aaron: "Don’t they get sick of it after awhile?")
While waiting for the lift, the Kent Ridge students glared at us and made it very clear that they hated our guts. Alice and Eileen exchanged a look and shrugged helplessly, while Devlin slouched around looking completely unconcerned, and Ee Chong and Aaron just decided to ignore them completely. I tapped my foot impatiently waiting for the lift.
As soon as it arrived, we got into the lift, and the door was closing. However, before it had closed completely, Devlin just couldn’t resist. He shouted, "Kua si mi, si ba gow? "
The doors of the lift slid smoothly shut.
A babble of voices broke out in unison.
"Devlin!" Alice and Eileen yelled, exasperated.
"What? What was it he said?" I displayed my ignorance of dialect at the wrong time.
"Shit you, Dev! Wah lau! They’re going to whack you lah!" Aaron.
"Never mind, all of us here wear spects anyway - " Alice reasoned.
"Yep, they probably won’t misunderstand - " Bridget hoped.
"This is it. You’re always getting everyone into trouble, Dev," Ee Chong grumbled in frustration. "!"
"Precisely! What are all of you worried about!" Devlin yelled over the tumult.
"Can someone tell me the meaning of what Dev said?"
"All of us just keep calm."
"They’re going to come after us, I bet."
"Si ba gow means four-eyed toad!"
"So?!" Devlin.
"Oh, that’s just brilliant, Dev. Brilliant."
"Let’s just go home, alright?"
"Thanks."
Ding. First storey. We swept towards the entrance.
We had scarcely stepped out of JEC when the confrontation begun. Devlin was walking behind all of us. It was easy for the gang of four to stop him.
They had already surrounded him by the time I realized that he wasn’t behind me any longer. Ee Chong and Aaron had already stepped in between Devlin and the gang.
"Alice. Alice." I called sharply to the girls who were walking further ahead.
They looked shocked as they took in the spectacle and hurried back, looking worried.
"You insulted us!" One of the KRSS boys, with the unfortunate disposition to possess a beer belly, snarled as he shoved Devlin on the shoulder. There was a scuffle, and Aaron had to pull the boy off Devlin.
Devlin cocked his head and retorted, "Was I insulting you? Did you see me insulting you? How did you know I was insulting you?"
The KRSS gang looked disorientated for a second. I couldn’t help it. I burst into uncontrollable laughter. Eileen looked at me incredulously. No, I simply couldn’t stem the tide. What was wrong with me? It was getting hysterical, so I hid behind Ee Chong and tried to stop.
Meanwhile Beer Belly seem to try to get his bearings on the situation. Blinking in the sunlight of the square outside JEC, he growled, "You dare to say that you weren’t insulting us?" (Editor’s note: Dreadful, their English, I took the liberty of patching it up.)
"Yar. Si bak gow could be any one of us. What proof do you have that it’s one of you?" Aaron stepped in.
"You were insulting us!" Pug Girl reinstated. They sounded like they were trying to convince themselves.
"You think we’re stupid, is it?" The other boy was just giving us the gun to shoot him in both feet.
Stupidly, Devlin said, "Umm. Yes."
It took Ee Chong and Aaron to stop all four Kent Ridge students from jumping on him.
"Let’s just stop this. It’s ridiculous." I snapped.
Ee Chong stepped between them and Devlin and said, "Let’s just make peace. , ok? Like Caesar says, "I am as constant as the Northern Star", so we’ll just let this go alright?"
I could see the astonishment and confusion in their faces I already. I bit back a smile. In a most diplomatic manner, he set things in order, and we left for the MRT.
On the road to Jurong East Interchange, Ee Chong muttered under his breath, "Alice, Eileen. Walk in front of us." The boys walked at the back of the entire group.
Turning around, I realized why. The Kent Ridge gang obviously didn’t want to let the matter rest. They were tailing us. The rest of the journey was a tense one.
"It’s okay, good thing we all take the West line. We’ll stay together."
"Dev and Brid will be alright, they’re on the North-South line."
"Shit, Kat takes the bus!"
"It’s okay, I’ll take the MRT for once."
We were discussing plans as we walked.
Things came to a head when we reached the escalator leading up to the MRT station. Obviously not wanting to lose their target of pursuit, or at least, not without first getting back at us in some way or another, they grabbed Ee Chong’s bag just as he was about to leave. All of us heard the inevitable ripping sound as the fabric of the old bag gave way.
Ee Chong rounded up upon the culprit, who was Pug Girl. I could see her shaking, as he suddenly looked ferocious enough to breathe flames.
"Don’t think that I don’t dare to beat you up just because you’re a girl, "he glowered.
She let loose with a string of expletives which I’d rather not repeat here.
Then there was a shoving match between her and Ee Chong, and Beer Belly stepped in, followed by Aaron.
Somehow the entire confrontation had attracted quite a few passers-by, us being in school uniform and all. The conflict resolved with the Pug Girl spitting out spitefully, "Watch out," being unable to intimidate us in any other way.
All of us walked away and went on the escalator. When we next turned our heads, the Kent Ridge gang were nowhere in sight.
"Good one, you guys must have scared them off." I said, still feeling the aftereffects of the shock.
"I was scared to death when she ripped Ee Chong’s bag. I thought they really wanted a fight!" Eileen heaved a sigh of relief.
"Devlin! It’s all because of you!" Alice berated, while Ee Chong added, "Yar, the last time we were playing LAN, Dev also got us into trouble. If not for me, we would have never gotten out of it. It’s always Dev."
One of the most memorable and exciting of the RV3F days in my memory, I must say. Ritchell has always beaten herself up for going home early that fateful day.
random thoughts

Tuesday, June 21, 2005
just some random thoughts of mine.
i was watching a tv show just now which made me realise that life is indeed very fragile. to be frank with u guys, i'm a person who's really afraid of death n what comes after it. whenever it's raining heavily,i'll be afraid that i'll get strike by lightning; whenever i ride in a car,i'll be worried that the car will end up in an accident..etc.eh,u get it.
i know we all have to die one day, but the thought of leaving this world, leaving my loved ones n whatever I have behind is just too scary for me. don't know why i'm thinking about these all of a sudden. i'm mad.
i still remembered how clement was taken away from us 2 yrs ago, when he lost the battle to cancer. the death of a person so young left me pondering about the true meaning n value of life.
i'm 18 going on 19..but.. i feel that i have not really accomplished much so far.
should have valued my life much more.i'm lucky that i'm perfectly fine despite of a body with laterally inverted organs..*lol*
so...we should all have a more positive outlook towards life!!
live our life to the fullest!!
i shall attempt to do that everyday!!
shopping~

Monday, June 20, 2005
It's my father's day off today, so my family went out on a shopping trip today! *wee*
Haha, we were walking down the stairs to the void deck when this black, ugly thing fluttered about and attacked us! Guess what it was? It was a big,fat,evil-looking moth(the ones which I kept complaining about a few entries back). I started screaming and as u guys know, I can scream really loudly...and erm to the horror of my family members, my neighbour on that floor opened the door to check out what had happened. We were feeling damn paiseh n quickly scrambled down the stairs.
stupid moths.
back to shopping.bought a nice top from esprit n some stuffs from the new OG@orchard. I love my mum! it's best to go shopping with your parents cos' they'll usually pay for everything..;)
I saw liao lijun (aka xie ting feng from holland V /contestant from project superstar) and she's absolutely gorgeous! She's one of my fav. female contestants. Hmmm...She's a little too dark, but I think her face just screams "x-factor" n she's really really pretty!
1 more week to bt2

Sunday, June 19, 2005
I think I'm falling in love with jogging. Had been going to ntu(it's a few stones' throw away from my house) to jog. It's a rather nice place for a jog, with all the pavilions, greenery n smooth paths all around u.
Ha, wished there had been more hunks jogging there instead of aunties n ah-peks. Well, guess u can't get the best out of both worlds.
Finished my jog when I saw yt strutting down the overhead bridge. *lol* I thought she had been jogging everyday, but turns out that that slacker is as slack as me, going to jog only when we feel like it..;)
I feel so outdated. The last movie i watched was house of fury n it's like, 2 months ago? there are so many (seemingly) good movies to be watched recently n i have not watched a single one of them yet!!
movies on my list:
1.batman begins
2.mr n mrs smith
3.initial d
4.be with you
5.a lot like love

Ended up at Kster@chinatown instead of kbox at cine cos kdinner turned out to be quite expensive. By the way, i diden noe that there's a kbox on level 8 on cine.
Ha, we sang all the way from 7 plus to 11. Ah fai, u shld be happy cos we ended the kge session on a high note, dancing to the beat of mei fei se wu(*beepbeepbeep..*). Sunday, June 12, 2005
It's the 1st anniversary of Tian lai hui yin. Wow, time sure flies. That was definitely a very memorable concert for all of us.
Ha.I think I'm crazy. Kia, jas and I went for energy's autograph session at lot 1 today. cuicui came down to join us later n we played bridge while queuing up. Ha, managed to mug 2 plus chapters of chemistry while i was in the queue.
I was damn excited cos I got to shake all of their hands besides getting their autographs. Though I had been to 3 of their previous autograph sessions, it's the 1st time in 3 years that I got to shake their hands. Ha, I guess tt's because the autograph session shld be their last one ever, so they wanted to make it memorable for us?
I feel so sad. Eh, Jas n ksp shld understand how i'm feeling right now, right?
after the autograph session, i rushed down to kallang to meet my sis for pck the musical. Eh, tickets for the matinee show were sold at half price. tt's why i decided to watch it with my sis. i think the musical was quite enjoyable. nice dances and songs. best of all, the live symphonic orchestra playing behind was so pro.
the plot was quite lame i must say.
it started off with pck hinting to all his family members that he's turning 40 the next day. they all pretended that they do not know when in actual fact they were planning a birthday bash for him. frankie foo(his long time enemy) wanted to replace pck as the best contractor so he got someone to pretend to be his long lost brother, phua chu kok. chu kok brought him to a feng shui master to have his lock told n the master told pck that he will die on his birthday. he predicted some other stuffs which happened to come true, leading to pck believing that he will die the next day.
blahblah. he signed a will stating that he will leave all his assests to chu kok cos chu kok promised tt he will take good care of rosie n co. so overnight, all his assests became frankie foo's. blahblah..pck has nothing left, but he realised how much his family meant to him, though they had forgotten his bday. while gloating over his victory, frankie foo became too excited n suffered from a heart attack. pck saved him. blahblah. frankie felt guilty, tore away the will n returned everything to pck.blahblah, happy ending, though pck n frankie foo are still enemies.

Hah. Travelled all the way to Tampines to meet sk for the JJ Lin concert at Temasek poly cos he called in to 933 and managed to win himself a pair of tickets to the concert.
Anyway, we were at the road junction waiting to cross the road when we saw 2 transexuals coming our way. I guess we stared at them for a little too long n one of them turned back and said "You want me to slap you?" Gosh, we were like..0_0 Bleah, they should have known better that they will definitely attract the curious stares of others just by the way they dressed and behaved.
The concert was quite short, but it's definitely a luxury to hear JJ sing live. He sounded exactly the same as he did in his albums and you will definitely not find yourself cringing when he hits the high notes..;)
3 students from Hai Die music school performed a few songs and I would say that they are a disgrace to the music school. If I m not wrong, I saw one of them on Project superstar but(thankfully) I dun think he got in. Speaking of project superstar, I think the contestants' standards are just..so-so? But I particularly like Tan Wei lian, the visually-impaired guy. Thought that there was something very sincere and very touching in his singing. I was almost close to tears when I heard him sing.
Bleah. Back to mugging!~

Winry Rockbell
Which Fullmetal Alchemist Character are you? brought to you by QuizillaIt's almost the end of the 2nd week of June. Hmm..mugging slowly but steadily I guess.
Still feel that I had been slacking too much instead of mugging.
Went for sushi buffet with my lovable Flab Club members on Monday. I think I ate a lot. Cramped my breakfast, lunch and dinner into one meal. Felt like puking after that. We were quite pissed with a certain worker there thus we decided to kindly pen down our thoughts on the survey forms provided.
After Maths lesson on Tues,SK,ksp and I headed to Toa Payoh for a K-ge session. I bet lots of J1 girls are so jealous of me now cos I got to hear someone's beautiful voice for 4 hrs..;)
Shall mug for the whole of today and tml before travelling to TP for JJ Lin's concert.
*someone just told me something today and I really couldn't believe it. Why? I guess we should just leave it to time now. There's really nothing we can do, can we?*
Btw, I had been trying hard to jog every evening. Wish me good luck on my journey to a healthier lifestyle!! =)

Back from watching Lindale, HC Harmonica band's concert. It was quite ok, considering the fact that they had less than one month to prepare for the concert. Eh, some performers were highly amusing though, if u guys know what I mean..;)
Just bought Energy's latest(haha, or maybe last) album: Zui Hou De le yuan.
Oh man, I'm feeling very down after listening to their CD. As i have mentioned before, they were part of the memories of my sec sch life. Bleah, now that Ah di is leaving the group due to his spinal injury, Energy won't be able to hold out much longer without him around.
Haix, my mind was suddenly flooded with all those memories. Memories of their Power concert 2 years ago, memories of me n jas queueing up for their autographs...
Silly I might sound, but they mean a lot to me. Ha, they are just another boyband to many, but their perseverance, sincerity, superb dancing abilities and ah di's voice were the reasons why I like them so much.
Think I'll cry buckets of tears on their 9th July concert.
Goodbye energy. Yet another small chapter of my life has ended.

Saw this in a column of the papers this morning:
"A friend was lamenting how our urban lifestyles have caused us to lose touch with the simpler things in life. Which was why she decided to take her 5 year-old daughter to New zealand for a week-long farm stay. I protested that there was nothing to do except milk cows.
My friend replied that it was precisely what she wanted to do. It had begun innocently enough. Mother and daughter were watching television when an advertisement for fresh milk came on. My friend turned to her child and asked:"where does milk come from?"
The girl replied:"NTUC."
She was, of course, referring to the fairprice supermarket, where the family does their grocery shopping...."
Highly amusing if u ask me. But on 2nd thought, it's quite natural for a young child who's growing up in a 100% urbanised country to give an answer like this.
Leppers' camp

Thursday, June 02, 2005
Back from the 4-day long LEP writing camp. I was quite reluctant to go there as a j2 facilitator in the 1st place, thought that it would be a waste of time. I guess I was wrong.
Due to some reasons, the camp this year was held at the S'pore Sports School, unlike previous years which was at NTU. Rah, security at the Sports school was very strict. U need to have a card to have access to the lifts n gates to the dorms. Guess the security personnels there realised how troublesome it was to get around n they ended up unlocking the system. The rooms were quite nice though, except for the fact that u have to battle with some ants on the desk every now n then.
Saw Chen Chen there with the National Fencing Team. They were there for a 2 weeks'training camp for some competition. Ha, I was really surprised to see him there. U are still as short as ever.
Enjoyed running around n crapping with the facilitators from NYJC n TJC. It's quite fun to stand in a row n distribute the trays to the J1s, while spotting for eye candies at the same time. Not fair, they have more eye candies than we did last year!!
Spent our time mugging or playing silly games while the J1s were attending the lectures. Feel that we were damn slack. Ha, but I had fun!
Boo..start of mugging season.
